We are a Safe Haven for Young People

Following the recent incident in Bristol, we’ve taken the opportunity to review and strengthen our procedures to ensure our shop is a safe place for anyone to come if they feel scared or unsafe.

Over the coming days our volunteers will be receiving updated training on how to respond if a child or young person comes into the shop feeling unsafe, frightened, lost, or in need of help.

Our shop has always been part of the community, and we want children and young people to know that if they are ever in trouble or feel unsafe while out in the area, they can come inside and ask for help. Our staff will know how to respond calmly, keep them safe, and contact the right support for them.

Creating safe spaces in our community matters. Even small places like shops can make a big difference when a young person needs somewhere to turn.

If you’re a parent or carer of a young person in the area, please let them know that the Punk Against Poverty shop is a safe haven for them to come to.
